The invention pertains to a foldable device featuring a flexible display divided into three portions: a first, second, and third portion. The device's body consists of three support sections corresponding to these display portions. Notably, the third support section includes two rotatable wings that connect to the first and second support sections, enabling the flexible display to fold and unfold efficiently.
Foldable mobile devices like communication terminals and multimedia devices aim for portability with large displays. Traditional displays are not foldable, limiting their integration into compact designs. With advancements in flexible displays, larger screens can now be implemented across foldable structures. However, sharp bends can damage these displays. Thus, a design accommodating a curved portion during folding is necessary to prevent damage while ensuring the display remains flat when unfolded.
The foldable device incorporates a hinge mechanism with first and second hinge shafts. The flexible display's third portion can bend into a curved shape between these shafts. The first and second bodies rotate around their respective hinge shafts between folding and unfolding positions. A restriction unit helps maintain support positions during unfolding and allows movement to receiving positions during folding.
The device includes gear components for synchronized rotation of its bodies and a locking unit for securing them at various angles. Support arms pivot around fixed points with guide pins and slots ensuring proper positioning during transitions. A rotating cam system supports the movement of support portions, while a connection member aids in transferring motion between folding states.
