The Versatile Configurable Robot/Vehicle Carrier, also known as "Robotruckā¢", is an AI-powered Electric or Hybrid Carrier Vehicle designed to transport and manage autonomous robots, drones, and other mobility equipment. Acting like an aircraft carrier, it leverages advanced battery technology, Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV), and Connected Vehicle technologies. The system supports various applications, including last-mile delivery and on-site robot services. The carrier features a configurable vehicle platform suitable for both off-road and on-road use and includes a modular E-Powertrain skateboard with AI-driven control functions.
With the rise of e-commerce, traditional delivery methods using trucks or vans have become costly. Autonomous robots and drones offer advantages such as improved efficiency, cost savings, reduced contact, increased safety, sustainability, and accuracy. However, they face limitations like limited range, low speed, and safety issues. Current solutions involve building local satellite stations or using regular vehicles for transport, which are expensive and inefficient.
The Carrier addresses these limitations by acting as a central hub for robots and sub-vehicles. It is a highway-capable Electric or Hybrid Vehicle with advanced energy storage technology and wireless charging capabilities. The Carrier can autonomously manage the movement of robots onto and off the vehicle for tasks like delivery and charging. Its design includes a configurable vehicle body structure and an AI intelligent SDV driving system with telematics, IoT connectivity, GPS tracking, and more.
The Carrier includes an on-vehicle wireless or cabled DC and AC charging system for robots and sub-vehicles. The wireless charging system is located under the truck bed and uses any power source to generate a wireless power signal for flexible on-vehicle charging. While wireless charging is preferred, cabled charging remains available for faster charging needs. The system also features sensors and self-locking devices to ensure secure charging connections.
This innovative vehicle serves as both a Robot/Vehicle Carrier and a Software-Defined Vehicle with smart docking capabilities. It enhances operations with features like in-vehicle infotainment systems and connected vehicle internet-capable control functions. By addressing limitations of current delivery robots and vehicles, it optimizes operations for businesses needing efficient local delivery or on-site services while ensuring safety through advanced connectivity solutions.
